Jesse Winter
Jesse WinterFounder and World Builder
Jesse founded Duo Storytelling to help writers share their stories, inspire others, and leave their mark on the world. Once an editor for an academic journal and a freelancer who worked on Amazon and USA Today bestsellers, he learned the ins and outs of the publishing world and passed on that knowledge to the Duo team. When not deciding where commas go or wrangling editors, Jesse can be found crafting adventures for his next D&D game or running far too many miles in questionable weather.

Our Editing Team

developmental fiction editor

Catherine Kjesbu

Developmental Editor & Line Editor

After years of writing for the stage, Catherine has grown a profound appreciation for storytelling—a passion that she has refined through her time assisting authors, playwrights, and poets bring their work to fruition. Genre-hopping by nature, she finds joy in helping authors craft whatever story or thought moves them to put words to a page. X-Men comics sparked her childhood interest in storycraft, and she continues to read them today. When not scrutinizing word selection, Catherine is often scouring specialty markets for hard-to-find spices, writing spec scripts, or taking her dog, Link, on a hike.

Angus Lamont

Copyeditor & Line Editor

Even before becoming a graduate student in NYU’s creative writing program, Angus read every book about writing he could get his hands on. He completed a certificate in copyediting and has since worked on a variety of fiction and nonfiction projects. When he’s not editing, Angus enjoys rock climbing, disc golf, chess, D&D, and reading short stories with his book club.

Gina Lebkuecher

Academic Editor

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Gina currently lives in Chicago while she earns her PhD in philosophy. She has a master’s degree in philosophy and social policy and a bachelor’s in philosophy, and her research bridges ethics and Asian philosophy with feminist philosophy. Before earning her master’s, Gina taught English in rural China for two years. She has also worked as an adjunct professor of philosophy, a development assistant, and events organizer. She enjoys reading, gaming, camping and hiking, trying new foods, and traveling.

Alex Kempsell

Developmental Editor and Line Editor

Alex has been a storyteller his whole life. Earning a degree in theatre gave him a deep understanding of characterization and story progression, which he has used to help several new authors refine their craft. Though he enjoys most genres, fantasy holds a special place in his heart. He loves stories that can pull a reader out of the real world and stretch the imagination. When he’s not editing, Alex is writing his own stories (very slowly), performing improv comedy, playing video games, and enjoying tabletop games that nobody’s ever heard of.

“They made my novel better and delivered above my expectations. I would recommend them for any writing project.”
